I am a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Salford University. I completed my Spinal Fellowship training in Spinal Surgery in Manchester and Birmingham. Having been awarded the prestigious Soli Lam Spinal Fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association in 2008/9 I undertook fellowships in renowned centres for Spinal Surgery in Germany and Switzerland.
My specialist interest is the operative and nonoperative management of conditions affecting the adult spine, from the cervical spine (neck) to the lumbar spine (low back), from degenerative disease to deformity, trauma and tumour surgery.
Back, neck and spine conditions
Often, the cause of back or neck problems is not possible to identify and pain will improve on its own in time.
However, if you have ongoing problems, we offer fast access to consultations and diagnostic tests and scans. You can get expert advice and treatment that’s personalised to you and your needs, with as much aftercare as you clinically need.
Our consultants are experts in their field, offering treatments for a variety of conditions. Medical conditions causing back or neck problems that may benefit from treatment include:
- Arthritis, for example ankylosing spondylitis – inflammation in your spine and other joints
- A slipped or herniated disc – the soft cushion between two vertebra is pushing on a spinal nerve
- Sciatica – compression of a nerve at the bottom of your spinal cord
- Scoliosis – twisting or curvature of your spine, often starting in childhood
- An injury
Mr Irfan Siddique specialises in all aspects of spinal surgery. His expertise ranges from the non-operative treatment of neck and back pain to complex clinical problems such as complex adult deformity and revision surgery.
